Why should I change my monitor resolution to 1024 x 768 just to view your website? How do I change it?

Our website was designed and built on screens with a pixel resolution of 1024 x 768. This seems to be the best average resolution to view most of the websites on the Internet. Although we have implemented a little piece of JavaScript in all of our pages to refresh the screen whenever the user resizes the window, it does not necessarily know if a user is displaying the site with a resolution less than 1024 x 768. If you have your monitor set for resolutions less than our suggested setting, many of the pages may not display properly.
